Transparency
Data protection is and will continue to be one of the biggest challenges businesses will face. Thus, with more and more patient data collected, creating a transparent data management system will be increasingly important.
While medical data will become the new backbone of medical systems, companies must ensure their safety to prevent public backslash. Patients will, on the other hand, require more access to their medical records, so the main challenge will be finding a balance between using the full potential of data while ensuring their safety and patient access.
EXAMPLE 1:
Skyflow is an India-based data security company founded in 2019. They offer products and services that help companies achieve solid data security while enabling access when necessary. The setup of the new system should not take longer than a few days and allows companies to protect users‘ data and modify protection measures on the fly.
EXAMPLE 2:
Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland aim to unlock the full potential of digital health by 2030. As of now, there are thousands of digital solutions for treatment administration and prevention of certain illnesses. However, there are no unified standards. Therefore, the nordic states decided to create a system that will unify digital health standards across the five countries and support their citizens in accessing quality digital health solutions. The system will check, among others, digital health solutions‘ quality and security, mainly because only 15% of digital health solutions on the Apple AppStore or Google Play would meet safety requirements as of now.
Expert Statement Jürgen Kurz:
An important and still open uncertainty is: what will be the standard or data management system that will be positioned in the market, that meets regulatory requirements, protects patient and user data, and also provides the robustness and expertise needed to advance the medical field.
